On this safari you will visit Lake Manyara National Park, situated in the Rift Valley region. The park is known for its amazing tree-climbing lions. You will also visit Tarangire National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants and its baobab trees. You will then visit the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the major attractions of an African safari. It's the world’s largest intact and unfilled volcanic caldera, and is indeed the flagship tourist attraction of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Day 1
Safari starts from Arusha - Drive to Lake Manyara National Park
We pick you up from your hotel in Arusha after breakfast or from the airport. We drive to Lake Manyara National Park with picnic lunch boxes.
Lake Manyara National Park is worth a stop in its own right. Its groundwater forests, bush plains, baobab-strewn cliffs, and algae-streaked hot springs offer incredible ecological variety in a small area, rich in wildlife and incredible numbers of birds. Pink flamingos stoop and graze by the thousands, colorful specks against the grey minerals of the lakeshore. Lake Manyara National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, set in grassland, savannah, woods, mountain scenery, and hot springs. This park is home to flamingo, elephant, tree-climbing lion, buffalos, leopard, gazelle, baboon, hyena, and many others.
In the afternoon you will break for a picnic lunch. After lunch, the game drive continues until you check in to your lodge in the afternoon. After check-in, you can relax, dine, swim and relive the memories you collected during the day.
Day 2
Full-day game drive at Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Ngorongoro Crater for our tour with a picnic lunch.
Ngorongoro is the world's largest caldera, filled with grassland, forest, and swamps. The Maasai shares the awesome area with their cattle in an area that has been a separate conservation area since 1956, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. It is indeed the flagship tourist attraction of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It’s home to the vast population of the Big 5 (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino). Huge herds of wildebeest and zebra traverse its plains during their annual migration.
Around midday, you stop and enjoy your lunch in the tranquility of the crater. After lunch, the game drive continues until you arrive back at your lodge in the afternoon. It is now time to relax, dine, swim and relive the memories you collected during the day.
Day 3
Game drive at Tarangire National Park and back to Arusha in the evening
After an early breakfast, you will check out from the lodge and head straight to Tarangire NP.
Tarangire National Park is a national park in the Manyara region. The park's name originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. The river is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire ecosystem during the annual dry season. Ranking as the 6th largest national park in Tanzania and covering an area of 2,600 sq km, Tarangire NP is most popular for its large elephant herds. Here, it is usually very dry, in fact, drier than the Serengeti. However, its vegetation is much more green with lots of elephant grass, vast areas with mixed acacia woodlands & some of the wonderful ribbons of the aquatic forest. The giant baobab trees can live up to 600 years, storing between 300 and 900 liters of water.
In the afternoon you will break for lunch. After lunch, the game drive continues until you start driving back to Arusha for drop-off at your lodge or at the airport.
